Blue Hills: Ski and Snowboarding Lessons
Try out skiing or snowboarding for the first time or come brush up on your skills with Blue Hills Ski and Snowboarding Lessons. These lessons are 1 hour and 15 minutes each week for 5 weeks and all lessons are taught by the talented instructors with Blue Hills Ski Area. All participants must provide their own transportation. This program is separate from the Saturday morning Free Ski and Snowboard. Rental fees are $100 and are not included in the fee below. No chaperones from Needham Park and Recreation will be present for this program.

If you would prefer a paper copy, please stop by our office at 178 Rosemary Street and we can have one printed for you.

Rentals: Needham Park and Recreation will be taking all rental orders but payment will be processed through Blue Hills Ski Area. When registering, please indicate if you would like to rent equipment from Blue Hills in the "Questions" section, and then indicate whether you are interested in renting skiing or snowboarding equipment. Rental equipment does for Blue Hills: Ski and Snowboard Lessons does not include a helmet; helmets can be rented separately. Payment for rentals must be through cash or check made out to Blue Hills Ski Area. All payment will be taken by Needham Park and Recreation staff in the offices at 178 Rosemary Street and brought to Blue Hills Ski Area. Anyone renting must attend a Rental Fitting session organized by Blue Hills and taking place at the Blue Hills Ski Area in Canton. Rental Fittings are taking place on the following dates/times: December 16 from 5:00pm - 7:30pm, December 17 from 9:30am - 11:30am, December 17 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, December 20 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, December 21 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Rental fitting is also available anytime the ski area at Blue Hills is fully open until end of day on January 5. Rentals for Blue Hills: Ski and Snowboard Lessons will cost $100 and all checks must be made out to Blue Hills Ski Area. Helmets are an additional $40. Rental equipment must be rented separately for for Free Ski and Snowboard and for Ski and Snowboarding Lessons.

Pre-Leveling: Blue Hills Ski Area asks that all skiers and snowboarders with experience attend a pre-leveling session prior to attending their first lesson. This pre-leveling session will take approximately 10 minutes and snow sports instructors will evaluate ski/riding level based on conversation with the skier/boarder. The participant will then be tagged with a green/white, green, or blue colored band that will indicate where they should meet their classmates and instructors. Anyone who does not attend a pre-leveling session will have to be evaluated on the first day of lessons. Pre-leveling will take place on the following dates: December 17 from 9:30am - 11:30am, December 17 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, December 20 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, December 21 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, January 2 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, January 3 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, January 4 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Some Pre-Leveling days are at the same time as rental fittings, but not all are.

Ski Lessons vs Snowboarding Lessons: Please note that only 30 ski lesson spots are available, and only 10 snowboarding spots are available. We are unable to add more spots at this time to either lesson group regardless of what the total registration numbers are for the program.
