Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art practiced in a fun and safe environment. Classes are highly structured, and typically include stretching, drills, technical instruction, and games. Aikido is essentially non-competitive, and thus there is no sparring. Instead, students work in partnership to support each other in performing techniques with increasing accuracy, finesse, and power. This approach allows all students to challenge themselves and reach their potential free of pressure to compete with one another. Aikido is a great martial art for children of all genders, sized, and abilities, and offers profound physical, social, and emotional benefits. Over time, the dedicated practice of Aikido improves attention, concentration, emotional regulation, self-awareness, self-confidence, communication, and collaboration - all while getting fit, making friends, and having fun!
