Peer Tutor 2025-2026
Youth & Family Services Peer Tutor Program matches high school students with students in grades 3-8 to provide after school academic support through the school year. Tutor and tutee pairs meet once a week at the Needham Free Public Library during a mutually agreed upon time to work on homework, help with projects, organize academic materials, and provide a supportive and friendly environment for a young student.
High schoolers are eligible to receive up to 30 hours of community service for their participation depending on their attendance! Tutors and tutees are required to commit to the program from October until mid-May. Tutors must be in Grades 10-12.
The number of participants in the program is limited.
Tutors - Once registered, all tutors must meet with the program leaders to complete an application and interview process before they are accepted to participate. Tutors who have participated in the past must complete the application and interview process again. Spots are not automatically reserved for past participants.
Tutees - Parents will complete an information form. There is a one-time $55 fee for tutees to participate for the year.
Program leaders will reach out with next steps once registration is full.
