Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.
Thursday, November 13th Virtual over Zoom 9am-3pm
Who should know Mental Health First Aid? - Teachers - School Staff - Camp Counselors - Youth Group leaders - Parents and all adults who work with youth.
Please note: there is about 2 hours of self-paced pre-work prior to the class - the class is an interactive virtual class. Registration will close on Thursday, November 5th to give participants enough time to complete the pre-work prior to the start of class on Thursday, November 13th.
What is covered in Youth Mental Health First Aid? - Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit disorder (ADHD) - Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges - How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis - How to connect the youth with help - Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying
