First Day Swim Test Procedure
To simplify the registration process, participants will register for a swim lesson time slot instead of a swim lesson level. On the first day of each session, our certified swim instructors will evaluate each child’s swimming ability and assign them to either Swim School or Stroke School and a level based on their swimming competency. After the first day, all swimmers will meet with their assigned instructor. Swimmers may be moved to different levels and instructors throughout the two week session depending on their progression through the skills. Adult/Child lessons are excluded from this process. Your child will be assigned to one of the following levels according to their swimming ability.
American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Curriculum (Below)Learn-to-Swim Program Overview Our swim lesson program uses the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Curriculum. Lessons focus on water safety, swimming fundamentals, and stroke development. Participants are grouped by demonstrated swimming ability rather than by age or pre-selected level. On the first day, instructors assess each swimmer and place them in the appropriate ARC level.
Swim School (Introductory Levels – ARC Levels Little Sharks–3) Ideal for children or adults who are beginning to learn water safety, body position, floating, kicking, and early freestyle skills.
