Needham Park and Recreation is thrilled to announce the return of the Leaders in Training program. This program is designed to bring our teens to our summer programs and introduce them to the skills necessary to be a successful summer camp counselor. Anyone interested must apply by the below date and undergo a selection process which will include a short interview.
Our Leaders in Training program will provide opportunities to volunteer with our camps such as: Summer Recess: Explorers and Adventurers, P&R , KidzArt, Jr. Allstars, Kids Off Broadway, Art Lab, Sports Specialties. Engineering Summer is not available in Summer 2026. All Leaders in Training must attend our Leaders in Training trainings.
Leaders in Training are initially registered for 35 hours over a 1 week session (9am-4pm) unless you're registered for the week of July 4th which will be 28 hours. Any time beyond that is up to the discretion of the Group Leaders and the Site Directors at their program. All Leaders in Training will receive two shirts at the trainings.
All Leaders in Training must submit a SORI/CORI form, a copy of their most recent (within 18 months) physical and a copy of their immunization record after completing the selection process. All SORI/CORI form must be submitted with a copy of their ID which can be a school photo ID, passport, or a copy of their birth certificate and social security card.

Registration Start Date: March 11 at 12:00pm
Registration End Date: April 17 at 12:00pm
Selection Process Start Date: April 20, prospective LITs notified via email
Selection Process End Date: May 3
LIT Training 1: June 12, 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Memorial Park Field House
LIT Training 2: June 13, 9:00am - 12:00pm at the Memorial Park Field House
Ages: 13+
Available Spots: Two LITs per camp per week
Registration Fee: After completing the selection process, applicants will need to pay a one time $50 registration fee
