2026 Stroke Clinics

  • To register, participants should have done at least one of the following:
    • Mastered Level 3 or higher in American Red Cross Swim Lessons
    • Active Member of a Competitive Swim Team 
    • Proficient in all four competitive strokes & looking to refine technique / improve race performance



FREESTYLE & BACKSTROKE: These clinics are meant for competitive swimmers looking to enhance their technique in the long-axis strokes. This clinic will begin with freestyle: focusing on proper body position in the water, then transitions to developing the ability to rotate evenly to both sides of the body.  Freestyle will conclude with a focus on a high anchor catch and effective pull. Backstroke will continue where Freestyle left off--focused on proper body position in the water and an even rotation to both sides. Backstroke will conclude with catch and pull focused on arm placement and entry into the water.  


BREASTSTROKE: These clinics are meant for competitive swimmers looking to enhance their technique in the short-axis strokes. This clinic will begin with breaststroke: focused on an efficient kick, correcting the pull, proper stroke timing, and maximizing the glide. Butterfly will begin with a focus on the chest press and breath timing, the ability to catch the water in front of the body, pull through the stroke, and proper stroke timing and tempo.


STARTS & TURNS:  This session aims to develop a powerful dive by engaging the whole body in the start and then maintaining that speed through the opening lap of the race. Turns work is designed to help athletes minimize time on the wall and maximize the push to begin the next lap at a faster pace. Participants will practice timing underwater kicking and breakout strokes from both the start and the turn.
